Project Possibilities

IDEAS & PROJECT SUGGESTIONS
We have compiled the following list of ideas that are either in process at the Centre or have yet to be commenced. It will give you an idea of the kind of community we want to continue building here at Carp Ridge. If you are interested in submitting a project proposal, downloadable pdfs of our application forms are available from the link at left.
Holistic Health
We are open to ideas that would work in conjunction with our Natural Health Clinic. We envision the development of a Healing House as an alternative to hospitals in certain situations.
Green Business & Eco-Construction
Develop a green business through use of our existing facilities, or build new. Build eco-homes and other buildings using sustainable approaches to construction and energy use.
Community Living
Own or rent ecohomes, live and work here.
Sustainability Workshops
A business in itself. Use of Learning Centre to maximum capacity for all sorts of healing and sustainability programs. Various course lengths from evening to week long.
Environmental Club
A marked trail with a few wilderness exercises are in place, with room for further development. Build boardwalks over swamp areas and tree stands for overnight observation. We already have a large canvas tent which accomodates twelve, and areas for camping. The Learning Centre building could be used as a base camp. Could combine with native/spiritual activities, (i.e. sweat lodge, vision quests), team-building, or a summer camp (CREWC ran a camp for three fun-filled summers).
Community Garden
Various locations are available for growing with some existing cultivation. A possibility of building a barn (strawbale?) for incorporation of animals and healing. Garden would use organic and permaculture principles. Would be well-suited for teaching classes or youth and senior involvement.
Holistic Education
A private school was successfully operated from 1998 - 2000 at the elementary level (Grades 2 through 7). It creatively incorporated standard curriculum with life skills and inner values. The minimum requirement to re-open is a full-time teacher and a multifunctional administrator. The school may be onsite or nearby offsite.
Spiritual Teaching & Practice
Multi-denominational programs for adults, youth and children. Teaching basic spiritual principles and tools drawn from all religious, spiritual paths. Create a memorial peace garden or a sacred building. . . maybe a dome?
Special Events
Days on the Land, Fundraisers, Green Days.
Emergency Preparedness Network
Develop a neighborhood network to facilitate coping in difficult times: flooding, winter storms, power outages, or anything that disrupts everyday life by partnering with government and community groups to set up lines of communication in your area.
A Practical Model for a Future That Works Our philosophy. Developing it into a booklet, a presentation, a workshop and a video for education on a future that works.
