ABOUT NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE

Naturopathic medicine is a comprehensive and professional health care approach based on understanding how an individual has become ill, then supporting them toward better health with gentle and effective methods, in line with natural laws and confirmed by scientific studies. Our fully-staffed clinic is only about a half-hour from Ottawa -- we can easily work with the various health practitioners, hospitals and facilities in and around the Ottawa area.

Seven years training, similar to medical school without the surgery, is required to become a naturopathic doctor (ND). This prepares a person to become a primary care practitioner, able to fully communicate and work together with other medical professionals.

Naturopathic physicians deal with any health condition, from prevention and treating colds and flus, to offering complementary care for cancer. Through pregnancy and birth, infancy to childhood, maturity to old age, naturopathic training teaches us to identify and address the many aspects of health and disease: physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, social and environmental. We aim to treat the causes of ill health as well as gently addressing the symptoms.

Naturopaths are trained to use a wide variety of diagnostic and treatment modalities. To assess individuals at our clinic, we offer screening tests for cancer (especially of the breast) known as Regulation Thermography, food sensitivity testing, metabolic analysis, hair analysis, and a naturopathic examination supported by a thorough history. Treatments include lifestyle counselling, clinical nutrition (including aspects of Ayurvedic nutrition), herbal medicine, homeopathy, acupuncture, various forms of bodywork, and cleansings for detoxification.

ABOUT OUR CLINIC

Our reconditioned building has allowed our facility to enlarge from four hundred to almost four thousand square feet. It includes four consultation rooms, a massage area, infra red sauna, a testing room and a pharmacy. Staff has plenty of room to relax in a beautiful kitchen, and a place to study in a large library equipped with Internet computer access for researching the most recent advances in naturopathic health care.

An attractive cedar building topped by a green hip roof houses the Natural Health Clinic at CREWC. The original structure, an unwanted bungalow in Ottawa, was moved and renovated into a healthy building -- it was ready for new life on July 3, 2003. The wood exterior and metal roofing blend with the agricultural atmosphere of the Ottawa Valley, and an environmentally friendly finish allows the clinic to weather in a fashion similar to old barns and log homes in the area. Recently we have added a geothermal system to reduce our heating and air conditioning costs.
