| About Us
Situated on 190 acres of Carp Ridge woodlands just northwest of Carp village, CREWC borders over 1500 acres of crown land and undeveloped wilderness. Click on the physical site plan at right to see existing and future development.
As the first and presently only ecowellness centre in Canada, we are zoned to develop 10% of our property with a holistic clinic, learning centre, community school, information centre, green businesses, and eco-homes for private residents living in common.
Staffing the centre are a number of people residing both on and off-site. Collective input is made on management of the property and buildings, stewardship of the land, and how we interact in a healthy and supportive way.
Buildings sit within the natural features of the terrain and our site plan was developed using permaculture principles. This creates environmental diversity while also increasing the usefulness of areas designed for human habitation. Each building or cluster of buildings will be bordered by organic gardens and a central circular garden, plus an orchard currently in development.
Between the forest and gardens are many naturalized areas including a pond rich in wildlife. Walking trails lead out back through woodlands of mixed bush, wetlands, and ridge outcroppings dominated by majestic white pines.
Sacred space will be created in secluded clearings surrounded by forest. They will be places for celebrations and special events where community spirit can be shared. These places will also be available to individuals and small groups seeking solitude and a sanctified space for personal introspection, meditation and ceremonies.
